In her latest music video, the director boldly explores the blurred line between good and evil through striking visuals and symbolism. Using contrasting characters and metaphorical transformations, she invites viewers to reflect on love, survival, and the hidden nature of evil in everyday life.
What inspired the visual concept of the two queens and their contrasting colors?
I've always been inspired by scary tales. It is the primitive ones, before they reach the editors of children's publications, and many plot points are smoothed out or disappear from the text altogether. And it's not about cruelty, but rather about the honesty of the characters. I've long wanted to delve into the nature of evil and its appeal. And this is a reflection on this topic. in general, there are topical reflections in the video. When the whole world is at war with each other, when the world is on fire. There's an army of girls and an army of boys here, but in the end it's all about the losers. In the finale, they all froze in the final battle, in the final movement. I was inspired by battle scenes from world paintings. when this very movement is more like a dance, when the moment is captured a second before the fatal movement.
How does the transformation of the prince into a snake symbolize the theme of deception in the video?
Of course, there are biblical plots involved here, as well as most of the drama in principle. But it's more about the fact that the real evil is hidden under a pleasant face with beautiful curls.
How did you approach translating the emotional intensity of the song into visual storytelling?
To be honest, I completely disconnected from the lyrics in this case. I didn't want to comment in any way on visual images or repeat the lyrics in any way on the screen. I wanted to make a story that could also be interpreted in different ways by different viewers.
How does the video explore the blurred line between good and evil?
As I wrote above, this is the main idea that led me to this scenario. Now the line between good and evil is so blurred, it is so transparent. Every day, concepts are replaced, and what was considered the norm yesterday may become taboo tomorrow. Good and evil are not always about personal choice, sometimes it's an evil fate when you have no other way.
What do you hope the audience feels about love and survival after watching this video?
If the viewer thinks about it at all, I'll be happy already.
What projects or music videos are you planning to work on next?
I'm currently working on my feature film. Now I want to work more with underground artists, if we talk about video clips. Try myself in a completely different style.
How do you see your artistic style evolving in the future?
I want to keep looking, changing and doing something new.
What has been the biggest challenge for you as a creator so far?
The biggest problem is when an artist doesn't trust you. Even with an amazing team, everything will immediately start to fall apart. When everyone is on the same wavelength, when everyone believes in an idea, you can endure the most difficult twists and budget constraints. Then nothing is scary.
